Color Crazy

Mama doesn't enjoy making decisions. She's usually pretty good at picking her paint colors (other than that one green she tried in the kitchen...). It's been almost 10 years since we moved in and painted the living room walls (that's a record for the longest we've had one color paint in a room) and we are finally getting around to painting the trim . It's a bit intimidating with the doors/windows/built-in bookshelves. Mama went to the paint store to pick a new color for some motivation, but the owner told her not to give up on her color until after she painted the trim. Mama went home and was really glad because she's always loved the color (silver sage from Restoration Hardware) and how it changed from green to blue to gray, depending on the light. But once the old trim became bright white, the sage changed and became a dull gray-green and Mama didn't care for it any more. We picked out a few sample cards and the whole family loved a blue-gray, but it came out too dark. And so Mama tried to find a color that was similar to the old one, but a little more blue. Before she knew it, she had 7 samples on the wall. And she put a spot of each on each wall. The colors seriously looked different on each wall.

Here's CJ showing how sad she is that we can't decide:
PS - We did finally end up picking a color. We decided on atmosphere blue from Restoration Hardware. It's in the middle of the 7 colors over the fireplace and definitely more blue that what we had before. We are happy with the color and Mama was really happy with the paint. It went on easily and covered well. No worries about choosing what formula or finish. She did take it to the local paint store and had it shaken before using it. And the last paint from RH lasted 10 years without the maintenance issues we've had with some of the other brands. Hopefully we'll find that this will last as long
