Out and About

Aunt A is in town so we met up with her for two of our favorite things - pizza and beer!

Walnut Creek

Still making our way south, we stopped for a bite in Walnut Creek.  It was in the high 80's so very warm for us - especially Little B.  We had a parking lot picnic and hit the road.  Still a ways to go.

Dark Skies

After CJ's pickup at school and before the graduation ceremony, we hit one of Mama's favorite places for lunner (late lunch/early dinner).  Even at 2:30 there was still a wait!

The food was yummy as expected and while we ate we watched the rain coming down sideways, hoping that it wasn't getting into the car window we'd left open for Little B.  We were lucky and the car was dry.

The sky was so dark, Mama had to take a picture.  She swears it was much darker than it looks here.

Numero Ocho

CJ's dried mango snack caused tooth number 8 to fall out after school today.

Warm Mother's Day

CJ dressed up for the special occasion.

She and Daddy took me out to brunch.  

Our first choice had a line 4 people wide and a block long so we headed to another location.

After a bit of a wait and some yummy food and pastries, we went home to grab the bikes.

We joined the crowds for a Sunday Parkways ride.

We waited in a much too long line for a much too short visit in a much too warm inflatable.

CJ still enjoyed it.

CJ was starting to melt and Daddy had a plane to catch so we headed home fairly quickly.

After CJW cooled down, she walked to the store with Mama and found a new place to practice her gymnastics.

Mouseka Breakfast

We found a yummy place for breakfast in San Diego, guess it is award-winning.  Even made a free Mickey Mouse pancake for CJ.  Totally worth the 20 minute wait.

Finally...the Bunny

CJ finally broke into the Easter Bunny tonight after dinner!

She is so good at rationing her treats.

Sweet Flowers

CJ had a check-up today and afterwards we hit the bakery for a little snack.

CJ picked this beautiful flower cookie.  Yum.

Slappycakes

Have you ever gone out to make your own breakfast?

We did today.

Mama got a message from some friends, suggesting we meet up for breakfast.

We agreed to meet at Slappycakes.

The kids got to make their own pancakes with a griddle on the table.

CJ chose white chocolate chips and blueberries for her toppings.

Egg Hunt #2

CJ wasn't done hunting for eggs and the weather was nice so we stopped by another park

 for a second egg hunt.

We started this sunny Sunday at the egg hunt we've been going to for the last few years.  

CJ was excited that our neighbors met us there.

She was much more successful this year than in past years.

Critters

Daddy picked up this lovely set of chocolate critters for CJ for Valentine's Day. There is a bunny, a mouse, a chocolate lab and a cat. Super cute.

CJ decided to start off by eating the mouse - yum!

Colorful Cookies

CJ loves decorating the holiday cookies. She's even patient enough to take the time to look through the sprinkles and decorations and place them one at a time on the cookies, to make her color patterns.

They turned out pretty well:

Happy Half Birthday

Oops - almost forgot to post this one. We skipped the cupcakes this time and picked up these yummy chocolate mousse filled cups topped with fresh berries. Yum.

Mama's Choice

Today we went out to dinner to celebrate Mama's birthday a little early. So Mama got to choose the venue. We went to her favorite brunch spot and it was great for dinner, too. Yum.

Marshmallow Bread

In an effort to find a place the whole family would enjoy, we tried a new Mac and Cheese restaurant for dinner. It was surprisingly good and there was no wait! CJ's favorite part was the "marshmallow bread". She had a rice krispie treat ice cream sandwich for dessert and it was yummy. I'm sure we'll be back.

The Ultimate

CJ had the day off from school so we took it easy. We walked to the library and store and enjoyed some time practicing signs with our new sign language book over a treat at the coffee shop. When we got home we decided to make the ultimate peanut butter chocolate squares from CJ's very own cookbook. She did a great job of crushing graham cracker crumbs and helping mix everything together as well as melting butter and chocolate in the microwave. They are so yummy - taste like Reese's peanut butter cups.
